Re: Petr Novák
A few questions, either to Blossom or to Petr if he happens to have a look here:
- is the tray "waterproof" (= not leaking water), so that you can pour water directly into it, or water a tea pet?
- is it heavy?
Thanx in advance for the answers

Re: Petr Novák
No leaking problem at all. But edges are small so if you pour your teapot on a teapet, it could be uneasy to carry then. But possible without leaking, thanks to it glaze I think.
I don't know what you call heavy. I can say it isn't light, especially compared to your bamboo tray, but with it small size, I move it easily. And it has "handles" under.
This is what I can say with my poor english, waiting Petr's answer.

Re: Petr Novák
Dear Blossom,
Thank you for sharing those picutres! It looks like your new teapot fits to the bit aged tray pretty well:)
This clay, generaly, is almost never fully closed. It always absorbs some water. More or less depending on fire and thickness of the piece. Sometime, when you leave there water over night, it can go through, leak. Sometime it does not leak. When Mirka makes teaboats from this clay, she usually uses special oil (some kind of nano-technologie product) which makes even from bique or raku fired pieces water proof pots (not used on food-drink stuff).

Re: Petr Novák
On the big tray I have right now, I use to leave the water for days. It did eventually go through. I used some kind of waterproofing varnish (for building) to get it 100% waterproof. But if I had emptied the tray everyday or so, it would have not been a problem. But it is heavy and I am lazy sometimes...

Re: Petr Novák
The one which is already on its road to France, is even heavier and bigger so you can let out your laziness, rellax and never again stand up just to clean out your tea tray.David a écrit :But it is heavy and I am lazy sometimes...

New blog post is ready for you http://potsandtea.blogspot.cz/2014/07/stoves-braziers-for-heating-water.html
Do you use charcoal for heating water? If not, what is your excuse?
