Just the right size for my needs, I'll take them all.

Yes, I think the box I use is this size...
If I remember my maths, the volume of my box is :
3.14 x (4 cm)2 x height 10cm = 500 ml...
Impressive! What does that come to with a shrinkage of appr 17%? (Just kidding!)

Will play around with it. It is a good idea to make difference sizes. There has been a surge in demand for sure. What's your preference, the toasty yellow clay as above or this darker clay:

Hello Inge
For me the most important is that the earth is as porous as possible for the storage of puerh.

Re: Inge Nielsen
For the volume of the puerh (maocha) according to the leaves it is necessary to multiply the volume by 2 or 4 so that it is not too small.

This is an interesting thought. That makes the 140ml pots more like presentation jars than actual storage jars. I will keep that in mind. As I think I have said before, I am not a pu'er drinker myself. Still learning

Thank you!

Yes, you're right. The water absorbancy of the yellow clay is 7%, and that's pretty high. The brown clay is probably a little less, but I have no exact number. (Less chamotte than the yellow, but fired lower).
Thanks for your comments!

I think ooericoo was referring to air porosity rather than water. Puerh needs to "breathe", to be in contact with oxygen to evolve and age correctly, thus glazed jars and harder clay would be better for presentation or short-term storage. (On the other hand, it would probably be perfect for long-term wulong storage, as it's often said that wulong needs to be stored away from light, oxygen and humidity.)
Beautiful work on those iron glazed cups! I really like the reddish one. The darker glaze is nice too, but the lighter one reminds me of camp fire sparkles, love it.

Hi Leaf
Thanks for your input.
One way to measure porosity (or breathability) in fired clay is the water
absorbtion method, namely measuring the intake of water in a piece of fired clay after boiling it for say 3 hours. The extra weight is the water absorbancy. It is how the manufacturers measure porosity. On the official fiches for each clay we can see figures for water absorbancy (a measure of porosity) at different fired temperatures.
A great website for more information on the technical aspects of clay and glazes is digitalfire. https://digitalfire.com/4sight/glossary ... osity.html
Thanks for your kind comments!

Re: Inge Nielsen
Le dernier kyusu de Inge en action (170ml).
La jarre est d’elle aussi (premiers essais de son nouveau four au gaz).
Comme d’habitude, kyusu très agéable à manipuler.
